At St. Mary’s C of E Primary Academy, our vision is that all children are included and embraced within our St Mary’s family.
Our vision is that all children at St Mary’s:
- are valued and have the opportunity to succeed
- receive a wide range of opportunities (both through the broad and balanced curriculum but also through wider curriculum provision)
- make good or better progress
- are taught the Christian Values of respect, forgiveness, trust, kindness, thankfulness, friendship and hope
St Mary’s C of E Primary Academy, as a mainstream school, will endeavour to strive to best meet the needs of all of our children in an inclusive way.
At St Mary’s C of E Primary Academy we will work together with the Local Authority to ensure that our SEND Strategy compliments their principles of inclusion.
Our Approach
We are a fully inclusive, mainstream primary school. We ensure that all pupils achieve their potential personally, socially, emotionally and academically, in all areas of the curriculum, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, social background, religion, sexual identity, physical ability or educational needs.
Children may be identified as having special educational needs when their progress has slowed or stopped and the interventions or resources put in place do not enable improvement. Once this occurs, we have specific individual provision maps which help to support a child's development and accelerate their progress. If necessary, referrals may be made to other professional agencies for further support, for example the Special Educational Needs Inclusion Team, an educational psychologist, a speech and language therapist or the school nurse. Parents/Carers would be kept fully informed about any steps taken and consent is always gained before any referrals of this kind are made.
Should you have any questions regarding your child do not hesitate to make a phone call or send an email to Jessica Crisp or Angela Smith.
